A Goal is the end result that we want to achieve. Strategy is a way to reach a Goal. There can be more than one strategy that leads to a goal, and many strategies that will not.

As an example of confusing a Goal with a Strategy, a friend of Gale's decided to quit smoking. So he stopped smoking - many times. However, he was never able to quit. One day he realized that he was using smoking as a way to take a break from working at his job. Realizing this, he changed his strategy from not smoking, to seeing that it was OK to take a break while working. After years of trying to quit, he was finally successful.

In regard to the spiritual, many traditions see the ego as a block to enlightenment. The Goal then, can be to eliminate the block created by the ego. There are many strategies to do this. One is to eliminate the ego. However, eliminating the ego is very difficult and some would say that it is impossible. In this workshop, we present the strategy of balancing the ego and believe that this can allow enlightenment and intuition to come through. This can be seen like a window. It is not necessary and not desirable to tear out a window to let air in. It is only necessary to open the window.
