I have found three categories of meditation to be useful for me.

Discernment – Meditation in seconds. This is an effective way to use meditation for making intuitive decisions. The information in this workshop can help develop this ability.

Meditation – Meditation in minutes or hours. This is what we usually think of as meditation. This is the starting place to develop the other two categories.

Vision Quest – Taking time apart, meditation for consecutive days. Vision Quests are part of a number of traditions. I have found that it is not necessary for me to follow the tradition of going off into the forest by myself and living on a restricted diet for a Vision Quest to be valuable. What I have found is that it is important to get away from my usual environment (no TV, phone, radio, newspaper, etc.) and into more natural surroundings. Being alone for a large part of the time and being open to whatever shows up also seem to be important.
