The beginning meditation using the ideal place of relaxation is a very good place to start. However, after some experience, a person can quickly drop into meditation (the Alpha level) by just closing their eyes, taking three deep breaths, and counting down as if they were going down steps. While it is good to start at 10 and count down, it does not take long to reach this same level by counting down from 3. (Note that some people like to visualize going up steps, and/or counting up from 1. Pick what feels the best to you.) As you become more experienced, sometimes all that is necessary is to close your eyes and take a deep breath. And if you open your eyes after reaching your meditation level, you will find that you can have the same feeling with your eyes open. If the feeling goes away, just close your eyes and it will come back. After some experience with this technique, it is possible to be at the Alpha level with your eyes open. This can be useful if you find that meditation is the intuitive method that works the best for you. If people experience benefits in Alpha, they are often interested in reaching deeper levels. Simple methods for reaching these deeper levels (Theta, Delta, and Gamma) are given in the Second and Third levels of this workshop. Seeking your spiritual guides, angels, and/or other spiritual beings is also very useful as well as finding what supports your meditation (place, time, music, etc.). It is not our intention to provide detailed information on different meditations or practices in this workshop. So this information can be found elsewhere. Using your intuition for choices in this area can be very useful and saves a lot of time.
